Can I Open My Eyes

I come around when I hear the sound begin to chime
Like a needle in the ear to bring me back to life
To show the world what they wanna see
I’ve seen it all much worse than this

There’s so much that’s weighing on my mind
It feels like I been here a thousand times
This cross to bear’s become so much heavier
I wasn’t still supposed to be carrying

But now’s the time
To shed this cross of mine

I always took for granted what was my time
Never thought about the lights that were gonna die
I must have pushed it right to the back of my mind

Sitting here and I can’t explain how it feels
To feel like it’s lost in a cloudy dream
Just waiting for the right time to open my eyes
Can I open my eyes?

The time ticks on relentless like a man of stone
Caught between the substance of your skin and bone
Carry on along with this rusty cross
It’s taking over my mind I ain’t here for this

To shed this cross of mine
