One Christmas morning I received the marvellous little toy

A wonder to behold it was with many colours bright

And the moment I laid eyes on it, it became my heart's delight

Ele fazia zip quando se movia e bop quando parava, zumbia quando ficava parado
It went zip when it moved and bop when it stopped whirrrrr when it stood still
Nunca soube exatamente o que era e acho que nunca saberei
I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will

A primeira vez que o peguei, tive uma grande surpresa
The first time that I picked it up I had a big surprise
Pois bem embaixo havia dois grandes botões que pareciam grandes olhos verdes
For right on it's bottom were two big buttons that looked like big green eyes
Primeiro apertei um e depois o outro, depois torci sua tampa
I first pushed one and then the other, then I twisted its lid
E quando o coloquei de volta, isso é o que ele fez
And when I set it down again, this is what it did

Primeiro marchou para a esquerda e depois para a direita, depois marchou sob uma cadeira
It first marched left and then marched right, then marched under a chair
E quando olhei para onde ele tinha ido, ele nem estava lá
And when I looked where it had gone it wasn't even there
Comecei a chorar, mas meu papai riu porque sabia que eu encontraria
I started to cry but my daddy laughed 'cause he knew that I would find
Quando me virei, meu brinquedo maravilhoso estaria chugando por trás
When I turned around my marvellous toy would be chugging from behind

Os anos passaram rápido demais, parece, tenho meu próprio garotinho
The years have gone by too quickly it seems, I have my own little boy
E ontem eu lhe dei meu maravilhoso brinquedo
And yesterday I gave to him my marvellous little toy
Seus olhos quase saltaram da cabeça e ele deu um grito de alegria
His eyes nearly popped right out of his head and he gave a squeal of glee
Nenhum de nós sabe exatamente o que é, mas ele o ama assim como eu
Neither one of us knows just what it is but he loves it just like me
